Meet Bernadette Torres Selmon, Co-Founder & CEO of Vibe Mobi

Bernadette Torres Selmon is a Houston-based entrepreneur and nonprofit leader with deep roots in the city’s East End. She is the co-founder and CEO of Vibe Mobi, a woman-owned wireless company offering affordable, no-contract mobile plans that empower families and individuals—especially those underserved by traditional carriers. Through Vibe Mobi, Bernadette’s mission is clear: to keep people connected without the stress of credit checks, hidden fees, or expensive commitments.

Bernadette’s commitment to community runs deep. She also serves as President of Shoes For Kids, a nonprofit that provides new, properly fitted shoes to thousands of children in Houston’s East End each year. This organization, originally founded by her late aunt, Yolanda Black Navarro, a legendary local activist, was the starting point for Bernadette’s lifelong passion for giving back. Yolanda instilled in Bernadette a strong sense of service, equity, and community responsibility.

Her family’s legacy is deeply rooted in Houston’s East End, where her relatives also own the iconic Original Villa Arcos. Bernadette has become known as an active member of the community, carrying on a tradition of service and making a real impact. Colleagues and community members often note that in Bernadette, the spirit of trailblazers like Yolanda Black Navarro “lives on” as she continues her family’s legacy of supporting Houston’s East End children and families.

Bernadette’s blend of business leadership, community service, and dedication to social equity has made her a respected figure—one who leverages her professional skills and entrepreneurial ventures to give back to society.
